"At 208 Bowery, the AriZona pop-up selling 99-cent branded Adidas sneakers turned chaotic Thursday morning: a massive, unruly crowd—with some fans reportedly showing up more than 12 hours early and many standing in line since 1 a.m., even in the rain—began pushing each other two hours before the scheduled 9 a.m. opening, prompting police to shut the event down before it opened due to “overwhelming demand and safety concerns.” While waiting, a 15-year-old male and a 17-year-old female were reportedly assaulted and sent to the hospital (an eyewitness said the female was hit on the head with a bottle), two males were taken into custody with charges pending, and others were injured in line; AriZona said, “We are actively working to remedy the situation,” and the NYPD later dispersed the crowds." - Carla Vianna
