"In Ferndale, I note that One-Eyed Betty’s has temporarily closed for renovations this week, with plans to pop up on the patio at sister restaurant Rosie O’Grady’s on West Nine Mile Road while work is underway. The renovation will add new booths and televisions inside and a new patio created from a shipping container. An alarming Facebook post that read “just to let everyone know Betty’s is closing...” briefly worried patrons given the number of permanent pandemic-era closures, but the shutdown is temporary. Known for its crispy fried Brussels sprouts and bacon burgers, Betty’s also touts 47 beer taps (plus one for Root Beer), 100+ bottled beers, a very respectable whisky selection, a kick-ass jukebox and pinball, and a menu roughly split 50/50 between Michigan and out-of-state brews with strong representation across styles—Betty’s clearly puts beer front and center: “DRINK BEER!”" - Beth McKibben
