"Opened September 23 in Torrance’s Rolling Hills Plaza, this bright, airy sweets shop is part of an Orange County–based chain that began in 2012 and also has locations in Del Mar, Santa Monica, and Costa Mesa. The menu mirrors other outposts, focusing on signature cake doughnuts—notably huckleberry and salt-and-butter—along with seasonal specialties and chef collaborations; doughnuts are fried in small batches on the hour so fritters are almost always warm throughout the day. The shop also brews coffee and espresso from Common Room Roasters. Designed by Fleetwood Fernandez Architects, the interior evokes a doughnut factory with full views of the doughnut-making process, and a vintage sidecar mounted on the exterior wall nods to Torrance’s automotive history. Hours are Sunday–Thursday 6:30 a.m.–6 p.m. and Friday–Saturday 6:30 a.m.–9 p.m." - Cathy Chaplin
