"Operating out of chef Townsend Wentz’s temporarily closed Spanish spot Oloroso, I found Remi Ricotta is a new Italian ghost kitchen from Oloroso alums and Philly chefs Christopher Godfrey and Jason Peabody, offering takeout-only salads, antipasti, pasta, and desserts at 1121 Walnut Street. I note it operates Tuesday through Saturday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., with starters like a five-a-bean salad, mortadella toast, pickled beets, blistered shishito peppers, and a burrata built with Calabrian chili, rabe pesto, celery root, and olive oil. Pasta mains include goat cheese and fig ravioli and short rib ragu pappardelle, plus specials such as a $10 cacio e pepe rigatoni doused with 24-month parmesan, and sandwiches will join the menu soon. For dessert there’s dirty chai tiramisu blasted with dark rum, sourdough bread pudding, and cannolis. The team’s pedigrees are highlighted—Peabody’s stints at Junto, Lacroix, Nectar, and The Fountain at The Four Seasons Hotel, and Godfrey’s recent role as sous chef at French BYO Bibou—and to showcase the menu Remi Ricotta is serving a four-course pickup dinner on Monday, January 18 (hibiscus cured tilefish; hand-cut pappardelle with mushroom ragu; wood grilled prawns; dark chocolate mousse) for $45, available for pickup at Oloroso between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. with vegetarian and vegan substitutions available." - Tierney Plumb
