"Moving into a new cafe space at the Baker Center (3908 Avenue B) in Hyde Park this summer, Terrible Love — sometimes referred to as Terrible Coffee — is transitioning from its meals-on-wheels setup into a walk-up window café with outdoor garden dine-in areas. The menu will remain mostly the same, centering on espresso drinks made with beans from Parlor Coffee in New York and Mercado Sin Nombre in Austin, and the shop is known for specialty lattes like the grapefruit brown sugar and the Trrbl (made with chocolate and banana syrups); new additions will include pour-overs and special espressos, and food offerings will include tacos and pastries. Located in the same building as the Alamo Drafthouse headquarters and arts nonprofit Austin Classical Guitar, the coffee shop is taking over the building’s boiler room. Owner and founder Brian Knowles started the business in 2021 in a former horse trailer parked on East 11th Street, relocated the trailer to Oddwood Brewing in 2021, moved to Avenue B in 2022, and had previously worked at Wright Bros. Brew & Brew." - Nadia Chaudhury
