"After Mi-Ne Sushi Totoya closed, I watched the Japanese grocery Dainobu move into the space (leaving just the “Mi-Ne” part of the sign) and convert part of the shop into a bargain counter serving Japanese comfort food; some items are available cold in glass cases up front, but I recommend going to the back to have your food specially assembled. Most dishes run about $8.99, including four types of ramen (one with a tomato broth) and four permutations of udon; one of the more interesting offerings puts familiar Japanese dishes on top of freshly made rectangular omurice (beef teriyaki is a fine choice and can be finished with a variety of sauces), and there are over-rice donburis (including a spicy-chicken version), a selection of affordable soups, and pre-packaged sushi; though most customers carry out, there is ample counter seating in the front." - Robert Sietsema
