Hooters Launches Its Own Line of Spirits | Eater

"The chain has launched its own line of branded “premium” spirits — vodka, gin, rum, tequila and whiskey — intended for both in-restaurant service and retail sale. The company touts premium positioning in its press release: the gin is made with “only select natural botanicals and juniper berries,” and the vodka is made from corn. One offering, a cinnamon whiskey, is called out as being very similar to a widely known cinnamon liqueur. Bottles are clear and feature a large rendering of the brand’s owl mascot (often criticized for its suggestive, busty-eyed design). The move appears aimed at reinforcing a more upscale image while also keeping costs down by pouring house spirits in restaurants and selling them through retailers for take-home purchase." - Tim Forster
