"Relocating to Kearny Mesa after more than a decade in its present-day position, the new 50,000-square-foot Zion Market is currently scheduled to open this July, Kevin Hwang — whose family operates the Asian grocery store chain — told Eater. Unlike the existing market, the new site will not have a food court (Paris Baguette is the only outside vendor making the move); instead, several surrounding buildings will hold office space, retail, services and a large assortment of full-fledged restaurants. With just a few open spots remaining, Hwang has signed leases for a roster of establishments ranging from well-known brands to first-to-market projects, and he says Shoo Loong Kan’s parent company is planning additional concepts at the site including a high-end Japanese barbecue and a boba shop. Another incoming tenant will be a cafe specializing in Vietnamese coffee. The redevelopment’s final phase is a 25,000-square-foot rooftop food hall envisioned with Michael Soriano and James Denton Design that will span a cocktail speakeasy and an international mix of food stalls." - Candice Woo
