"A Texas barbecue institution dating back to 1882, it began when William Moon sold smoked meats and sausages by wagon and opened a market in 1886; after several ownership changes it is now operated by the Bracewell family, who moved the restaurant from its original Central Avenue site to Highway 290 and have been expanding with locations in Bastrop and plans for Hutto and Austin. The menu focuses on simple, slow-smoked meats and is particularly known for its sausages (beef, hot beef, jalapeño cheddar) as well as barbecue staples like brisket, poultry, and various ribs, served by the half‑pound, in plate combinations, or as sandwiches. A new Austin outpost will open at the Shops at Arbor Walk on November 24, and the restaurant has applied for a TABC license; hours will be 10:30 a.m.–9 p.m. Sunday–Thursday and 10:30 a.m.–10 p.m. Friday–Saturday." - Nadia Chaudhury
