"Basic Taco, a new taqueria with a hidden bar inside, will open in Deep Ellum next week. The restaurant’s name is a bit ironic — though it will feature no-frills street tacos and a few “gourmet” tacos like smoked brisket and vegan eats, Basic Taco also has a secret. Nestled inside the restaurant at 2901 Commerce Street is a speakeasy-style bar called Yellow Rosa Cocktaileria. Both bar and restaurant will open on October 13. The restaurant is a collaboration between Basic Restaurant Brand and Madison Partners, who transformed the former food truck into a brick and mortar. Basic Taco will be an informal, casual eatery — meanwhile Yellow Rosa is meant to evoke the the beaches of Tulum and cantinas of San Miguel de Allende. Basic Taco will offer its full menu to-go via an in-house delivery service. The restaurant will also sell six flavors of margaritas and cocktails in a can, a.k.a. “snaquiris”. Basic Taco’s hours will be 10:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 10:30 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday, and 10:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday." - Brittanie Shey
