"Opening its first U.S. outpost in Wynwood, I spotted Piegari Ristorante Miami as the celebrated Argentine Italian spot beloved by celebrities and a fixture in Buenos Aires for 30 years. The menu highlights include Corde di Chitarra alla Carrettiera (guitar string pasta with pomodoro); Ravioli alla Piegari (spinach and ricotta ravioli baked in cream pomodoro); and Fettucini al Nero di Seppia (squid ink fettuccine with shrimp in a creamy lemon garlic sauce topped with red caviar). An array of risottos—Risotto Frutti di Mare, Risotto alla Primavera, and Risotto alla Ragú—sits alongside mains such as Branzino al Sale (sea salt–encrusted sea bass), Soglioloa (Dover sole with magnolia sauce), Milanese alla Napoletana (breaded sirloin with tomato and mozzarella), and Costoletta alla Salvia (veal chop with sage and roasted potatoes). Desserts are a standout, from crepés alla mela flambeed tableside to vulcano al cioccolato with vanilla ice cream, profiteroles filled with custard-cream ice cream and chocolate sauce, tiramisu, flan with cream and dulce de leche, and fragola alla lampara (glazed strawberries with ice cream and almonds). The cocktail program balances classics and creative drinks—notable cocktails include the Piegari Spritz, Flora & Fauna, Let That Man-Go, and The Slice of Life—backed by an impressive wine list. The 160-seat dining room pairs natural tones and splashes of color with tables, intimate booths and spacious banquettes, an open kitchen, blonde wood-paneled walls, shades of blue, greenery and gold accents; the 16-seat bar features white polished marble, dark blue wainscoting, backlit gold shelves and stacked brick. Piegari Ristorante Miami is now open at 137 NE 26th Street in Wynwood for dinner daily, with lunch to follow." - Olee Fowler
