"I learned that Sweetgreen will open a second Houston location in Montrose, replacing Doc’s Motorworks (which closed last year) at 1303 Westheimer Road; this appears to be the chain’s first foray into Texas, though it already operates in New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, Los Angeles, and the Bay Area. Its menu is devoted to warm bowls, salads, and seasonal bowl options — examples from its Los Angeles stores include a warm chicken pesto parmesan bowl with roasted chicken, spicy broccoli, tomatoes, shaved parmesan, and warm quinoa finished with a pesto vinaigrette (about 525 calories), the vegetarian-friendly “Shroomami” warm bowl with organic wild rice, shredded kale, raw beets, cucumbers, and warm portobello mix finished with a sesame ginger dressing, and a spicy Thai version with roasted sesame tofu, veggies, and spicy cashew dressing; diners can also find salads featuring lentils, avocado, and a plethora of other vegetables. No word yet on when the chain is set to debut locally." - Alaena Hostetter
