"In a subterranean space beyond the barricades near the new high-rise at Third Avenue and St. Marks, Dumpling N’ Dips turns familiar Thai dishes into dumplings: steamed, drenched in a slightly sweet sauce, and dusted with crushed peanuts that have an admittedly odd — extra crunchy — texture. At $10 for four, the dumplings were memorable; I ordered chicken pad Thai and a vegan massaman, and I preferred the chicken pad Thai — it’s kind of surreal for pad Thai to be turned into shumai. The other dumplings were a little overpureed but made up for it with spice, even though massaman is generally one of the milder curries on Thai menus." - Robert Sietsema
