"I found Uncle Tetsu's new Austin outpost in the Highland neighborhood at 6929 Airport Boulevard, Suite 151 (in the Cresent Plaza); it opened this month (July 22). The bakery specializes in Japanese cheesecakes — a lighter, fluffier cheesecake with a signature wobble made from sponge cake and cream cheese — and currently offers the original plus coffee, strawberry, and ube flavors. It also sells burnt Basque cheesecakes (a much creamier Spanish-style version) in original and ube, as well as cheesecake biscotti cookies, and delivery orders placed online are available. The menu is limited for now, but when it expands they plan to add matcha, chocolate, and Oreo Japanese cheesecakes and a variety of Hokkaido-style cheese tarts. Founded in 1985 in Hakata, Japan by Tetsushi Mizokami, Uncle Tetsu has since expanded worldwide; the Austin location is open daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m." - Nadia Chaudhury
