"After a recent rebrand and menu overhaul, this Chinatown Center at Spring Mountain ramen shop brought in California chef Ricky Komorida (of Raz Kamen in Grand Terrace) to upgrade a Japanese menu that retains anime-inspired wall coverings and a lively, late-night vibe. Appetizers include garlic butter mushrooms, the house tacos, shrimp pops, and karaage, alongside various fried-rice entrees and customizable house-special ramen where diners choose protein, noodle style, toppings, broth, and spice level. The spot is also known for an infamous extreme-heat challenge—nicknamed the “grim reaper” or “death bringer” shinigami—that features 24 ounces of tonkotsu broth, three pounds of noodles, and four million Scoville units; finish within eight minutes and the $50 meal is free and your photo is added to the “Wall of Warriors.” It occupies an easy-to-find central space in the retail center and keeps very late hours (Mon–Thu 4 p.m.–2 a.m., Fri–Sat 11 a.m.–4 a.m., Sun 11 a.m.–2 a.m.)." - Bradley Martin
