"A corner Googie-style diner long identified by a giant rooftop windmill that dates back to its original incarnation as a Van de Kamp’s Holland Dutch Bakery, this chain outpost became a local landmark and even inspired a campaign to save the windmill. After being turned on again 18 months ago for the first time since the late 1980s, the windmill unexpectedly collapsed, falling straight down from its perch and puncturing the restaurant roof. A reopening date is unclear, but management intends to repair the damage and get the windmill turning once more." - Farley Elliott
