"Chang’s Garden is a kind of Chinese diner, one that we’d happily turn into our regular spot. It’s a place made for groups, with a simple space and plenty of big tables to seat all your friends. You’ll need to bring them, because everything you order here is giant. The falling-apart pork steamed in lotus leaf is rich and perfect on a semi-cold Southern California day, and the lightly-fried fish that comes in a seaweed-y batter is especially great when you dip it in the spiced salt that comes on the side." - Brant Cox

"Chang’s Garden is a Chinese spot in the San Gabriel Valley, with lots of large tables that will mostly be occupied by couples meeting up after work and big families eating dinner. The portions are massive, and we’d recommend getting the pork steamed in lotus leaf and the fish fried in seaweed batter. Come with a big group of friends, and prepare to all go home with enormous bags of leftovers." - jess basser sanders, brant cox, brett keating

"The portions at Chang’s are huge, which makes this Arcadia restaurant an ideal option when ordering for families (or if you’re single and want to stock your fridge for the week). The specialty here is Hangzhou-style cooking, a city in eastern China that focuses on dishes like pork ribs steamed in lotus leaves, dong po pork, and fish fried lightly with seaweed. Our regular stop for good Hang-zhau Chinese food. Their weekday lunch specials are a great deal. However, keep in mind it’s regular price on US and Chinese holidays (if it lands on weekdays). There are so many good dishes that we rotate through on our visits. It’s a good place to eat dine out for two or even better for larger parties, where you can sample a larger variety eating family style.

Located inside a plaza with plenty of free self parking. The restaurant is clean and tidy. Service is probably one of the best in the San Gabriel valley. Our group was seated inthe private room in the back. It was a bit cold with AC blowing. We asked them to turn it down and they did promptly. The waiter and staff were very attentive. They made recommendations and took our order. The food came out quickly. It was hot and fresh. Some of the dishes were excellent, like the fish and chicken. Others were mediocre, in my opinion. Prices are very reasonable. I can't emphasize enough how great the staff is. Very polite and friendly. Would consider returning and trying other items on their menu.

Really great food if you are looking for non spicy dishes, there Hangzhou-Shanghai style dishes are really great. We really like the Spare Ribs Shanghai style, House Special Vegetarian Goose, and those we didn’t order also look delicious. And waitress are very nice too. Parking is easy.

This is a really nice place. Honestly, their menu has a bit of everything from a lot of different parts of China, even though they call themselves a 杭州(Hangzhou) restaurant, but that's OK. You can tell they have some things that are in line with the region, so it's much harder for an outsider like me to discern what dishes actually local to Hangzhou, and what belongs to other places nearby. Regardless, it's not bad. There were honestly a lot of dishes I wanted to try, but considering it was my first time here, we had to get what we know first to compare, but I'd definitely come back to try the other items on their menu! I like how whenever they make the 醪糟湯圓, they wait until they see you're almost done to ask if they should start making it, so you know it's fresh.

First time to try this restaurant. Drunken Chicken and Shanghai Cold Pork Slices as appetizers give us a good start. Then we ordered Shrimp scrambled egg, Shanghai little ribs, Cumin fried lamb, Chives Pork Stir fry, Green Onion Fried Pancake, Soup dumplings, Chang's beef rolls, Pork & Chicken cabbage dumplings. I will grade them B+ overall. Of course, a Red Bean Pancake as our dessert. We had great time and enjoyed the good food.

Went to Chang‘s Garden to celebrate the Chinese new year. Even though it was crowded we were seated right away. Clean. They brought our beverages and a boiled peanut appetizer in a timely fashion. Tasty and different. Since it was so busy, we placed our order right away. Sweet-and-sour pork chops, veggie fried rice and Basil chicken with Ginger. We noticed everyone was having a great time and were not playing on cell phones. Each dish that arrived, was very flavorful and hot and generous. Very good. Prices were fair for the generous portions. The wait staff was super busy with large parties however they were friendly and helpful.

Food/Taste/Flavor: 4/5 - the sweet and sour soup was pretty sour but some in our party really enjoyed it. Eggplant Szechwan Style had a small kick was the eggplant was soft and cooked well but a bit too much sugar may have been added during the cooking. Pork Ball Brown Sauce was mediocre and don't have much flavor. Shrimp Pineapple was a bit odd... the shrimp was fried well but for some reason the mayo was a bit watery so there was a small puddle left at the bottom of the dish. The House Special Intestines was delicious and our favorite dish! Fish in Hot Bean Sauce: the fish itself had no flavor other than the heavy seasoning on top. Ambience: 5/5 - clean and bright store Service: 5/5 - really attentive and very helpful/friendly Value for price: 5/5 - lunch price was competitive and the food was pretty good

We have been coming here for years and had never done a review. I am surprised that I haven’t done so. We just love their shanghai/Hangzhou cuisines. They make the foods authentically Shanghai style. So for those of shanghai cuisine fans, I highly recommend trying their imitation of Goose meat with tofu and bamboo shoots. The three cup chicken is excellent. The chicken in a clay pot permeates delicious flavor. Another dish worth trying is their pan fried Shanghai style rice cake. This is a must order dish. If you like xiao long Bao, this restaurant has good ones and their fried dumplings(生煎包)is very juicy and flavorful. But please avoid their fried bean noodle. It was too sweet when we ordered it on Saturday. This didn’t taste like the famed Beijing style noodle. Other then that, all other food seemed to be very good. Service was not bad either. The food came out very quickly and the waitresses were very responsive and friendly.

Yelp
Best Chinese food in Arcadia! This doesn't really say much as the Chinese food competition in the 626 overall is tight and like my husband, the 626 native says, "almost all regions of China are represented in the 626." Chang's Garden, specializing in Shanghainese cuisine with some Cantonese stir fries and soups and Taiwanese dishes, has been my husband's family's favorite ever since they opened over 20 years ago. I first visited this restaurant last month with my husband and most of his family. I could tell that my mom/dad-in-law are regulars as a couple servers greeted them loudly! My mother-in-law made reservations. The restaurant looked spacious, bright, and clean! We were served tea and boiled peanuts once we were seated and once we ordered dinner. Being a large family of regulars and with so many tasty choices, my in-laws ordered in a frenzy, but I was excited! Since we were in a frenzy, I could only happily and quickly take pictures of the food without identifying them. I only found names to dishes weeks after dinner. For seven adults and two kids, we ordered the following dishes, all amazing: Taiwan's Best Beef Noodle Soup (牛肉麵) Madam Sung's Fish Chowder (宋嫂魚羹) Shanghai Chewy Rice Cake (上海炒年糕) Fried Crispy Tofu in Spicy Sauce Signature 8 Treasures Tofu (八珍豆腐) Some Wood Ear Mushroom Veggie Stirfry Salty Egg Yolk Fried Bitter Melon (鹹蛋黃炒苦瓜) My favorites were the fish chowder and Shanghai rice cake. I loved all the dishes except for the bitter melon dish. I don't like bitter melon, period, but according to my in-laws, the salted egg yolk helped mask the melon's bitterness. Servers are attentive, even when cleaning up after parties leave. As if Chang's Garden needed more reason to be awesome, a future Chi Cha San Chen boba shop will open right next to them. An amazing meal followed by amazing boba? I'm so excited!

Yelp
We visited Change's Garden for lunch and had a delightful experience. The dishes we ordered included Pork Ball Brown Sauce, Pineapple Shrimp with Mayonnaise, Beef Pancake, and Sweet Bean Paste Pancake. The Beef Pancake and Sweet Bean Paste Pancake were the highlights of the meal--absolutely delicious with well-balanced flavors and perfectly cooked textures. The Pork Ball and Pineapple Shrimp dishes were enjoyable, though the pancakes stole the show for us. The service was attentive and efficient, adding to the overall positive experience. The ambiance was pleasant and made for a relaxing lunch outing. We'll definitely return, especially for those amazing pancakes! Highly recommended for anyone looking for a satisfying lunch spot.

Yelp
Meat Ball(紅燒獅子頭), Seaweed Fried Fish(苔條魚), Tung Po Pork Belly(東坡肉) are excellent!! All other dishes consistently keep up their high quality. You won't be tired of buying their food twice in a week. On top of that, all their servers are pleasant, polite, and super nice.

Doris J.

Yelp
We love Chang's garden! It is a restaurant that we frequent! Never disappoints! Fast, delicious and tasty Chinese food. My favorite is their hot and sour soup! My boys love their xianlongbao, dried sautéed string beans, fried fish filet. Nothing in the restaurant disappoints. The service is great. My only note is that when they wipe down the tables, they use a strong ammonia smelling cleansing solution. The ambience is fine.

Vicki S.

Yelp
OMG!!! This place is a total gem. My eyes are rolling back as I giddily type about and recount this dining experience. Their food is what great poems and songs are written about. Seriously, I don't recall eating such amazing Chinese food in the past few years that tastes remotely this bomb. I'm afraid to even talk about it for fear that they'll raise their prices or I'll jinx them somehow and the quality of their food will change. I'm bummed I can't eat here more often because I live in a different state. I love, love, love that Fried Seaweed Fish that you lightly dip in a salty spice mixture. The fish in particular is totally addicting and IMO intoxicating!!! I cannot wait to dine here again the next time I am in the LA area.

Richard C.

Yelp
Great Chinese food at a reasonable price! My father always felt this restaurant had the best lunch specials. Also, the sautéed shrimps here was his favorite. For me, the three flavors crispy noodles are the best. The server Amy- always ready to help with a smile. Highly recommended!

Yelp
We came to this restaurant to have a nice family dinner and it was a great experience. The service was very nice and catering. They gave great recommendations and was very nice. The food was absolutely delicious. It wasn't too salty or sweet it was perfect and everything was family style. We got the family combo that feeds 6 people. We had 8 people but the 6 people combo meal was perfect. It had 6 dishes and they were good portioned sizes. It came with the fried fish, shrimp, XLB, pork belly, soup, and green beans. Everything was honestly really delicious and very enjoyable to meet with the whole family. It is also a great deal too and was a reasonable price. Definitely will come again for another family dinner.

Linh T.

Yelp
Came here with the family on New Year's Eve for an early dinner. By 5:00 pm, the telephone was ringing non stop with stacks of take-out orders on the table. The lady sat us down and took our order a few minutes later. She was constantly apologizing for the slow service due to staff shortage, which made the wait time more bearable. They gave us free simmer peanuts for free. We ordered several items and all the food were delicious. It also helped that they had all-day lunch special prices to celebrate their anniversary. The restaurant looked really nice with a private room in the back. We had a good overall experience which did not burn our pockets. We will definitely come back to try other items on their menu.

Lily L.

Yelp
Super friendly staff! Love the local vibes here. The food is super unique. I got the beef noodle soup which was pretty good, could use a bit more braising sauce imo but good portion overall. Will come back to try some of the more unique items.

Tan N.

Yelp
THE FOOD NEVER MISSES HERE! great place to come in big parties and share dishes. convenient location to get dessert or groceries after a meal.

Kim T.

Yelp
My friend who lives in Arcadia suggested we come here and boy was I glad! The restaurant is easily seen from Duarte Street and has ample parking shared with other businesses. We parked right in front on a Sunday afternoon. It wasn't crowded but had a family celebration in their private dining space. The staff are very attentive and helpful. The food was DELICIOUS!! I heartily recommend the four dishes pictured but my absolute favorite was the seaweed fish fries!!! They are !!! Even after I was too stuffed to anything else, I kept taking one after the other. Run do NOT walk to Chang's garden. Did I mention they have great prices?

Caes F.

Yelp
Thinking fondly about their hot soup so decided to make a visit. It is located in a shopping plaza, anchored by a supermarket. Parking was not bad on a weekday. Chang's Garden is worth a visit for authentic Shanghai Cuisine. Ordered: Mama Sung Soup 4/5 - you can order a full or half size Shanghai Rice Cake 4/5 - acquired taste XLB 4/5 - you can order a full or half size Service was friendly and fast. The decor is Asian and the place has brightened up.

Nancy C.

Yelp
The food we have is authentic Shanghainese and delicious. The service is top notch as well. They are always genuinely sincere. We have found and decided this restaurant is our top one Chinese restaurant. My husband and I grow up in Taiwan and has come to US since 1971. We know and we have tasted many good Chinese Restaurants. Chang's garden is really # 1 in our mind.

Ron R.

Yelp
We went to Chang's for a relative's birthday for dinner around 7:00 on a weekday. They had business but were not too crowded. It was relatively quiet. Not all our party was there yet, but they seated us anyway and let us wait at the table. They also let us order so that the food would be ready once everyone got there. They held our birthday cake and served it at the end of the meal. Overall, the service was good, and they were nice to us. We got the 6-person set meal. It was a decent value. The dishes were good. None of them was exceptional, but they were better than just ok. They did allow us to make substitutions if we wanted, but they said that the dishes included were their best items, so we just took the set as it was. (If Yelp functions properly, then the full menu and food pics will be attached to this review.) Probably the dish everyone liked the best was what Chang's calls the "Seaweed Fish Fries," i.e., fried fish "sticks" that you dip in a side of salt/spices. The pork belly, green beans, and tofu were the next best and the shrimp was just k. The restaurant is in a typical medium sized strip mall for the area. Consequently, parking is shared with numerous other businesses including a market. The lot can get pretty full, and parking can be challenging. However, on our visit there was parking reasonably close to the restaurant in the lot. Overall, we would come back here. We have been here before. There is one fish dish on the menu that we did not have this time that is pricy but is good-sorry can't remember the name of that one. Four stars for good service and decent food, but not five because the food quality is just not top notch. Great place to take family or friends for a nice meal at a decent price and value in the area.

Miranda Y.

Yelp
A nice little place with different Chinese culture foods, like Shanghainese Style. Ordered four items and some are ok. Lack of servers and servers hardly walk around the table to see if customers need any assistance. Still need to come to this place and try other dishes.

Jenny K.

Yelp
I came here for the first time for dinner with family and it was delicious! We had about 8 or 9 dishes. I lost count and totally forgot to continue to take pics! My favorite dish was the pork belly bamboo clay pot soup. Everything tasted very good and the portions were very reasonable. Service was very good as well. Parking was no issue. I noticed a lot of people picking up take out. The next time I'm in the area I will absolutely come back for dine in and take out!

Tim B.

Yelp
This is probably my wife and I's favorite restaurant. We found it when we lived in Arcadia for one year, and have been coming back ever since. The servers are very friendly and remember us whenever we come. Anytime we're remotely close to Arcadia, we try to stop by. This is an authentic Chinese restaurant that you won't forget. Order the peanut chicken (gong bao ji ding), Beijing style pork (jin jiang rou si), and bok choi with mushrooms, and you won't be disappointed. We also enjoy the eggplant dishes. I lived in various places in China for 8 years so I can speak to what is authentic, and also what is good Chinese food. The later you come, the more crowded the restaurant is, but come at 5 PM, and you'll have no issues. I've never had an issue being seated or being served promptly.

Jashobeam F.

Yelp
That looks like a very legitimate Chinese restaurant. Too bad I love all the way in Anchorage Alaska, there's no way that I could be there to enjoy it

Frank C.

Yelp
This is my go to place for simple yet delicious food - been coming for years and now we mainly just get the food to-go. They are always courteous and prompt...and it looks like they will have a loyal customer in my daughter as she only wants to eat Kung Pao chicken from Chang's Garden!

Jonathan W.

Yelp
Takes credit card In the plaza with Supermarket Staff speak Chinese and English Come to eat the Shanghainese food. I come with my family all the time. Tea is $5 for the party. Lunch specials are a good deal either 11.99, 12.99 or 13.99 or 14.99 Complimentary sweet and sour soup- great flavor, vinegar not over powering. Y1 Shrimp scrambled egg ($14.99)- large portions with large shrimp. Cooked well and minimal oil W5 baby bamboo shredded pork ($13.99)- excellent flavor. Cooked well. The bamboo shoots tender, soft. Y8 Shanghai little pork ribs ($14.99)- large portions. Lots of bone though. Not over salty and the sweetness of the sauce comes out. I would pass on this dish though. Seaweed fish fries- half order (17.99)- restaurant famous for this dish. Get it! Super crispy. Nice and texture. Dip in white pepper to help. W4 shredded pork and fried tofu stir fry ($13.99)- super good flavor. Not too salty. Nice combination of flavor

NodRog g.

Yelp
My friend and I got the shrimp and scrambled eggs and the eggplant and fish sauce dish. The shrimp and eggs dish was done perfectly. Very yummy. The eggplant dish was good but seemed very basic. The ambiance was nice and the service was kind.

Wang G.

Yelp
The duck soup is very good, you do not feel thirsty afterwards, which means they did not use MSG. The Chinese eel dish tasted the right way, very authentic even you can easily tell it was made with frozen eels. You cannot complain cuz it is hard to find fresh eel here. The preserved pork cold dish though was not right. It is not XIAO ROU, but should be called KUN TI instead.

Grace W.

Yelp
Yummy food. This is one of our favorite restaurants in La. We come here every time we visit the area. The restaurant is crowded around noon but not so much after 1 pm. The food is so good. Their shrimp with green onions was especially delicious. The salt and pepper fish is always our favorite. The lion's meatball is so so soft and juicy. There are so many great dishes offered here. The service is always really fast and great. The restaurant space is clean. What more can you ask for?

Bonnie D.

Yelp
Can never go wrong with the seaweed fish filet fries! This is our favorite spot for this dish. Their clam soup with melon is always a great addition for something simple and refreshing. Friendly service, especially with kids. They gave my daughter a little treat after our dinner.

Marc B.

Yelp
Had not been here in many years. Not good the last time, but tried the other night. The restaurant updated the inside and was very nice. The food was a solid 4 stars and fair pricing. We really enjoyed. Only issue....service started out great. Once we got the food, they disappeared. No more water or tea. I would still recommend since clean ambiance and good food.

Anna C.

Yelp
I know of this place since it opened...in the late 80s, or maybe early 90s. It is one of my family favorite restaurants to go. The restaurant still had lunch specials, so the price is pretty good. As for the food itself, it is still very good. The grilled whole fish with green onion is totally worth the price, $14.99 from the lunch special menu. And the brown sauce goes very well with white rice. Chinese cabbage with snow peas and tofu sheet is a must for Zhe-Jiang/Shanghainese dish. We always order this, day or night. Shrimp in garlic sauce is pretty good. My first time ordering it (we usually order the pork with garlic sauce). It is not bad but I prefer the pork one, hence the reason for 4 star instead of five star. Leeks with Chinese bacon. If you like leeks, this is a great dish for you. Not only it is flavorful but it goes well with rice as well. While eating at the restaurant, there were lots of to-go orders being called in and picked up. However, not much of in-person dining though....which I think is prevalent in most restaurants now days. Anyway, give it a try. If you like Shanghainese food, this is a must restaurant.

Joanna L.

Yelp
Efficient. I ordered Chang's Garden per my mum's request for Mother's Day lunch. I called ahead and they quoted a 20-minute wait (longer due to the weekend lunch rush). We ordered: Beef rolls 3.5/5 - I had high hopes for these guys, but sadly, the beef rolls barely had any beef in them. Instead, they were full of... cucumbers lol. The pancake skin was also thick and tough. And there was just a tiny bit of hoisin so the roll itself wasn't very flavorful. Shanghai Little Spare Ribs 3.5/5 - These are my mom's favorite. Tender pieces of meat. They're bright red in color and pretty flavorful, just a tad on the sweet side for me. Intestines 5/5 - These are my dad's favorite lol (maybe mine too) - the intestines are so tender and this dish comes with a generous pile of pork's blood. The organ meats are paired with pickled veggies and it is a delightful combination with rice! Shanghai Thick Fried Noodle 4/5 - A great carb dish to wrap up the meal. We liked to cook our own rice at home, so it's nice to get a noodle. The shanghai noodle is pretty big in portion and comes with cabbage and stir fried pork. The noodles are thick and udon-like. Kungpao Chicken 5/5 - This dish is literally a family favorite and Chang's Garden does a great job, with lots of chicken (actually way more chicken than most restaurants that add handfuls of chili peppers and peanuts) which makes it feel like a really great bang for your buck.

Veronica V.

Yelp
Love this place! Esp the combination rice and the pineapple shrimp dish. I could eat the latter all day long.

Dave T.

Yelp
This place has been a favorite of our extended family and we have been coming back here for years. Whether it's for a casual lunch or a dinner to celebrate a special occasion, Chang's Garden always delivers for us. Their service is attentive and friendly. I especially appreciate the extra care they provide to my parents. As others have noted, they have a great range of Chinese dishes and there are too many favorites for me to list...I would only add that they also have some wonderful (and comforting) desserts! We will be continuing to visit Chang's Garden as the newer generations of our family love their dishes!

Emily L.

Yelp
A genuine staple in the community, Chang's Garden serves comfort on a tray when you're in need of some Shanghai- Taiwanese fusion. We ordered for delivery and everything arrived steaming hot. We started with the traditional beef roll. The dough was tasty, but it definitely needed more sauce to balance out the flavors. The Taiwanese beef noodle soup had a light numbing spice broth that was savory and heart warming. It was loaded with a generous amount of bouncy noodles and stewed beef. The seaweed fish was the true star of the show. I don't know how the batter stays so light and crispy after traveling so far, but It was scrumptious! Pairs so lovely with the pepper salt provided. Definitely give their fish a try! Promise you won't find a better one!

Winny H.

Yelp
Found this new Chinese restaurant in Arcadia on Duarte road. Interior dining area is quite spacious and open. They even have an outdoor patio area. It was my first time here and I ordered the Lionshead. Meatball soup and snow cabbage with tofu skin. Both dishes were quite tasty. The only issue I had was that there snow cabbage with tofu skin was quite salty. We also wanted to order their tofu, egg drop soup but later during our meal, the chef came out and said that they ran out of tofu, which was odd, because I saw another table getting the same soup, and it arrived at their table. Oh well. At least their portion sizes were good.

Yun-Wen L.

Yelp
Saw Chang's Garden videos on Instagram was curious about their dishes. Came to try it out with my wife and we were both not disappointed. The Dong Po Pork Belly was excellent. The Cucumber Salad was as delicious as it looks. Their service was excellent. Was scouting out the place to see if I could take my parents there for a meal and was surprised that it was already one of my father's favorite places to go for lunch when he worked in Rosemead.

Diana L.

Yelp
I ordered the hot and sour soup, Buddhist Delight, and Szechwan tan tan noodles for pick-up on 1/8/22. The soup here is great--flavorful and hits the spot for cravings. The tan tan noodles are dry, but only because they do not come with enough sauce for the amount of noodles packed in. The Buddhist Delight hits the flavor but misses in texture; mine was mushy from overcooking. Had the crispness of the vegetables been preserved just a little, this dish would've been amazing. Overall, I didn't have a bad experience here, and I'd be open to returning since I've only tried three items from a very extensive menu. Service is fast and easy. Definitely not a bad option for homestyle Chinese food!

Yelp
Chang's garden has a big menu. Beef rolls 4.5/5 - these were up there for me. Pancake roll was made perfectly and there was a good amount of cucumber. A little more cilantro and it would have been golden. Veggies with peas and bean sheet 4/5 - seems like this one is a popular one at this restaurant. I enjoyed it, however, it was way overly salty. Even rice didn't help the salt. Wonton soup 4/5 - the soup had great flavor and I loved that there were so many veggies in there. The wontons were plump and delicious, however, this one was also overly salty. If it weren't for the saltiness in 2 of 3 dishes, Chang's garden would have been a solid 5/5 for me.

Yelp
This place is so delicious and lots of options for food! The staff is always friendly and they would recommend dishes to you as well. They do offer lunch portion and accept togo. Plenty of parking and seats. They have VIP room too if you plan to host a party or meeting. The best one I have so far! I love it!

Yelp
In a rush to find a place for lunch takeout, I saw Chang's garden had weekday lunch specials at about $13-$14 for an entree, soup and rice. I got kung pao chicken, beef and broccoli and an order or shanghai chow mein. The noodles were amazing and the kungpao chicken was tasty too. The b&b wa definitely a skip for next time - beef was gritty and very pale. Service was very nice (which is abnormal for a chinese res in the 626) and order was quick. Only complaint its a little pricey but my togo bag was heavvvyyyy

Yelp
Came back with more of my fam and my boyfriend because I absolutely loved their wor wonton soup the first time I was here. I was craving that rich umami taste and a hot bowl of wonton soup but it was not IT this time around. It tasted super watered down, literally like water and soy sauce. The other foods we ordered were okay but the wonton soup was such a dealbreaker.. I am not into that inconsistency especially from a restaurant.

Yelp
We came back again, got our favorites and tried a few more items. The fish chowder is my new favorite on top of the shoyu fish (carp) and braised beef meatball. We always get more than we can eat so there's leftovers for the next day

Yelp
Highly recommend for Shanghainese dishes. It's quite authentic and it's hard to find this kind of high quality Shanghainese food. Everything was good. But the dish that you have to order is the Tung Po Pork Belly. It's cooked to perfection and you can tell that they slow cooked all the oil out of it. Hence when you eat it, it doesn't feel too rich and greasy. Another authentic must-order is the sweet lotus root stuffed with glutinous rice. This is a very unique Shanghainese dish and they make it very well here. It's served as an appetizer, not a dessert. Parking is convenient and service is good too.

Yelp
Can't believe I've missed this place having been eating in the SGV for so long. The menu is extensive and it seems a pretty popular place for the locals with lots of regulars and take out orders. Service was quick and efficient and the workers all tried their best to handle a full house and tons of take out orders. Looking at the menu it also seems very vegetarian friendly with many options that seems to denote it can be made without meat. All the portions are large and for the price, I think it is a pretty good deal. Omelette Veggie Rice - It's a cute presentation with the egg wrapped around the rice and it was also pretty flavorful for what one might expect with veggie rice. It has snow cabbage and tiny pieces of ham (so if you want vegetarian make sure you tell them to omit it). Shanghai Fried Rice Cakes - the rice cakes were softer than I've experienced with this dish in other places - actually a little too soft for my preference but the older people at the table liked that. Snow Cabbage with Peas and Bean Sheets - Very good. Lots of delicate thin sheets of soy. The "peas" are actually edamame which is actually better because I hate peas. Shanghai Little Ribs - As the name says, this dish was in fact full of little ribs. I think that denotes the baby back ribs which are smaller than the regular pork ribs. It was prepared well with a flash fried crispiness on the outside and a coating of sticky sweet and tangy sauce. The taste of the vinegar was well balanced - unlike the tendency to over-sweeten in many other iterations of this dish in other places. I would definitely come back to try more dishes. Their fried fish with seaweed looked particularly popular.

Yelp
5/10 OINKS!! Experience: 3/10 Food: 7/10 Value: 7/10 Service: 3/10 Overall, the food here was decent. However, the service was horrible. The waitress was very nice but the waiter kept rolling his eyes when we wanted to order more and just very unwelcoming. We felt like we were rushed to eat and pay. The experience was not great.

Yelp
I highly rate this place because I'm a regular and the staff are just so nice to my family and I which is definitely a plus! The food is also very good! Along with the price being very reasonable especially being in Arcadia. I feel like the food comes out quicker than other Chinese restaurants while still being freshly cooked. I have too many go to orders at Changs Garden. I really like the egg and shrimp despite being a simple dish. The kung pao chicken here is one of the top kung pao chickens i've had so please give that one a try. the sweet short ribs are also really good. The seaweed fish is a top top for me. I really like it a lot. i' m bummed i don't have a photo of it but i will for sure update this and add a photo of it The teapots here are interesting, the way the tea flows from it is aesthetically pleasing to me. It was just so smooth. The restaurant is always nice. Parking is never a problem because of the big parking lot for the plaza.

Yelp
Amazing food and great service. I think it's better than Yang Chow in Pasadena and less expensive

Yelp
Good food and service! Parking can be a challenge on Saturday night. Located in a mall with supermarket and other eateries. They have good deals on lunch specials that comes with sweet and sour soup. For dinner, pork belly and fried seaweed fish are my favorites!

Yelp
We came here last weekend again for a family dinner. Chang's Garden is now our go-to place for family dinners. We were so lucky to get the private room. The food was amazing again and the restaurant wasn't loud, which I like because I can have a conversation with my family. every time I come here, I get to try new dishes! The staff here are so nice which makes it a plus.

Yelp
I don't even think they deserve any stars! Food is terrible, don't waste your money or time going here..

Yelp
I had eaten here once years ago and not sure why never came back until 2 nights ago- ordered takeout since family visiting in town from NY. My aunty was saying missing Shanghainese food from our hometown. So this place came to my mind. I ordered a few typical Shanghainese dishes(they have non-Shanghainese dishes as well): stir fry Shanghainese rice cake with pork and cabbage- 5 star! It has just enough flavor and the rice cake is very sticky very authentic. It brings back the memories from my childhood. Seaweed fried fish 苔条黄鱼-very nicely battered and yummy, only wish it had a little more seaweed flavor. Shanghai short rib-4 star. Madam Sung'S Fish Chowder-5 star. Lots of fish mall filets in it and has a nice texture. Have it with a few drops of vinegar in it and it will blow your mind. I will come back more often for sure!
