"During SXSW I learned that Hugh Jackman’s Laughing Man Cafe was staged as a weeklong pop-up serving brewed coffees and flat whites (no food planned) and featuring a K-cup wall with Laughing Man’s coffees so people can brew on the spot or take some home; it was scheduled to be open Monday, March 12 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. and Tuesday–Friday, March 13–16 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Jackman was set to appear on March 12 for a discussion panel from 2:00 to 2:45 p.m. to talk about the cafe’s social mission. I noted that Jackman opened the New York shop in 2011 with Barry and David Steingard, who run the café, and that Laughing Man operates with a focus on charitable outreach and educational initiatives, donating partial sales to the Laughing Man Foundation to help coffee farms around the world." - Nadia Chaudhury
