"Effortlessly chic yet unfussy, this hyperseasonal Cambria restaurant stands out with cleverly constructed vegetable starters—mushrooms with an abundance of oil and Parmesan, and carrots shellacked with honey—plus small-plate proteins like meatballs in tomato sauce and petrale sole in brown butter that can easily make a meal. For groups, the large-format House Suppers serve two and run $68 to $90; add a few more vegetables and you’ll feed a crowd, while the ribeye is luxuriously marbled and simply dressed, with bread and salad on the side. The wine list emphasizes local producers at pleasantly low prices for the area and genre, with glasses starting at $12; bright natural wines from nearby Parr Collective pair nicely. Set a block off the main drag in a Victorian-era home with a candlelit patio and an herb garden, it has a hip but affable energy—staff will happily talk specific farms, cheerfully bring blankets when it gets chilly, and our server encouraged my kids to pick miniature plums from the tree.
