The 17 Best Tacos in the Oakland, Richmond, and the East Bay | Eater SF

"As the name suggests, this Mexican restaurant’s specialty is the torta ahogada, the “drowned sandwich” that’s best-known in Guadalajara. But at this no-frills, locals-only spot in Fruitvale, the tacos dorados are also top notch. Here, your order will come filled with potatoes or beans (you pick), and then topped with your choice of meat (we recommend the pierna and the carnitas), cabbage, thinly sliced onions, and the classic mild red salsa. Beware of the small jar of fiery-red salsa on the table. Even if you like your tacos spicy, a few drops will do the trick for most." - Lena Park
