"Tucked into a shopping center on High Street next to a laundromat and check-cashing store, this tiny counter-serve taqueria has no website and under 100 Yelp reviews, but it’s a comforting, family-run place where Toscano-Anderson has been grabbing after-practice burritos since he was about 16. Jose’s grandmother, Maria Parvo, still greets him with a big smile, runs the stove, and serves simple, homestyle dishes; Toscano’s usual is an arrachera (skirt steak) burrito that isn’t technically on the menu, while the most popular item is Maria’s enchiladas — stewed chicken folded into tender tortillas smothered in a thick mole and served with rice, beans, shredded lettuce, and pico de gallo. It’s cash only, a full plate with two enchiladas costs $10, and there’s a signed Toscano jersey and a snapshot of the friends taped up in the kitchen." - Becky Duffett
