"At the Pike & Rose complex (11807 Grand Park Avenue), I watched Call Your Mother’s North Bethesda shop roll out dinner for the first time, with daily service from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. for dine-in, takeout and delivery while breakfast still starts at 8 a.m. The large, 2,300-square-foot space is being used to experiment with new dishes and to make the chain’s wood-fired bagels available at night for the first time; menu highlights include pastrami brisket tacos and pizza bagels (which briefly appeared pre-pandemic at the Park View flagship), a tuna melt on rye, latkes, and colorful-basketed breakfast sandwiches. A section of hot subs comes on a homemade roll that Dana describes as “if brioche and Challah had a baby,” with offerings like “The Jet Ski” (brisket and pastrami), “The Manatee” (smoked turkey), a cauliflower-and-latkes sub, and a trio of tacos served on homemade corn tortillas. Pending approvals, the Bethesda spot may also add booze, and the shop just added catering capabilities. The evening “Bfast 4 Dinner” items include the “Royal Palm” (plain cream cheese, smoked salmon, cucumbers, tomatoes, red onions, and capers) and “The Sun City” (local bacon or pastrami, bodega-style local eggs, American and cheddar cheeses, spicy honey) on an everything bagel, and there’s a colorful deli salad of romaine, arugula, cabbage, carrot, cucumber, pickled onion, bagel chips and honey-lime dressing with optional add-ins like bacon, turkey, smoked salmon, tuna salad, whitefish salad or smashed avocado." - Tierney Plumb
