"Started as a front-yard brownie stand when Jerilyn Sheppheard was 15, Yumyum Brownies has grown into a business run by 17-year-old Sheppheard that’s slated to open a storefront this January at the corner of Victoria Street and University Avenue in St. Paul, according to her Facebook. Known for topping-smothered brownies, the shop is intended to be a community space for kids, adults, and seniors; Sheppheard has expanded offerings to include cake jars and homemade ice cream and is considering cookies in the future. She runs the operation while attending college with a small cadre of employees, gets tasting help from her older sister and enthusiasm from her grandmother, and already caters — supporters can donate to an upcoming fundraiser and can contact Yumyum on Facebook or Instagram." - Cinnamon Janzer
