Harvard Square’s Sweet Bakery Has Closed - Eater Boston
"Sweet Bakery, a local cupcake cafe with two remaining locations in downtown Boston and Chestnut Hill, ended operations at 0 Brattle St. on Sunday, January 6. 'We are sorry to inform you that our Harvard Square location closed due to building renovations,' a note on the bakery’s website read. 'We hope to be back soon.' Sweet Bakery owner Katia Pekar told Eater she hopes to return to the square, noting that the building owners may negotiate to bring back other previous tenants. The lease terms will start from scratch, however. 'We probably will in the short term look to partner with another shop,' Pekar said, for an arrangement that would allow Sweet to prepare its treats at another location and deliver them to a shop for customer pick-ups. Sweet opened its Harvard bakery about 10 years ago. Since then, the bakery has grown to offer a daily menu of cupcake flavors, in addition to its season specialties, holiday cupcakes, and catering services for cakes and cupcakes." - Dana Hatic
