"At the World Famous N’Awlins Cafe and Spice Emporium I really settled in—owner Braxton Humphrey, affable and smiling, explained that he and his brother are fourth-generation French Market vendors continuing a family tradition that began with their great-grandfather in the 1920s. They serve a chicken and seafood gumbo made from Braxton’s great-grandmother's recipe that is flavorful without being too heavy, slightly greenish in color from a high vegetable content, and studded with bits of chicken and shrimp; they sell about 6,000 bowls of gumbo a year and have had lines so long at Christmas they completely ran out of food by three." - Allison Alsup
