"We can now have lunch in one of the city’s first firehouses: Woodie Fisher Kitchen and Bar, which opened last month in the former House No. 1 in the Union Station neighborhood. The new lunch menu from Executive Chef Franco Ruiz, who spent six years at farm-to-table Fruition Restaurant, features a selection of sandwiches, burgers and salads including a chicken shawarma and a crispy steak torta; the Woodie Fisher Burger is topped with Havarti cheese and smoked bacon, and there’s also a brat. Lunch will also include items from the dinner menu such as Wagyu beef tartare and cured trout. The restaurant opens at 11 a.m. with lunch served until 2:30 p.m., dinner beginning at 5 p.m., and it’s introducing a happy hour from 2:30 to 6 p.m. and again from 8:30 p.m. to close with select dishes at discounted prices, half-priced beers and $5 glasses of wine. It’s positioned as a local Union Station gathering spot offering seasonal, fresh cuisine from Chef Franco Ruiz." - Paul Albani-Burgio
