"Desert Hawk, a friendly bar in Wicker Park, has become a tavern known for its pop-up residencies. The current tenant, Smash Jibarito, delivers a well-seasoned, thin beef patty smashed on a flattop with the obligatory crispy bits. But instead of placing it in between a bun, the burger goes Puerto Rican and gets sandwiched between fried slices of plantain, just like a jibarito.
