"When I first walked up to Supernova, a bouncer waved me through and a go-go dancer ushered me into a mirrored hallway that opens onto a dancefloor where a DJ mixes beneath a 10-foot-tall disco ball while aerialists and drag queens spin above and the room pulses—part Studio 54, part arthouse. Since its grand opening in a SoDo warehouse on June 30, 2021, the club has filled both inside and out with colorful, interactive art—attendees are greeted by two massive murals outside and inside find a secret photo booth, a unicorn sculpture suspended above the dancefloor, and a Verner Panton–inspired artist lounge—creating the immersive, escapist nightlife founder Zac Levine envisioned after leaving traditional concert and club production. In partnership with BeautyBoiz, Supernova has become a home base for Seattle’s queer community, regularly featuring drag queens, go-gos, character actors, aerialists, live musicians, and even the world’s only drag-queen-exclusive bottle service, while explicitly striving to be inclusive of trans people and people of color; performers and staff I encountered, including Bruno Baewatch, described it as a safe space where they can be themselves without judgment. More than just a nightclub, Supernova positions itself as an arts-and-entertainment experience and an incubator for local artists and performers, and it has quickly made a splash on social media and in Seattle’s LGBTQ nightlife scene." - Eater
