"Grocery kingpin Eli Zabar has sued the landlord of his Upper East Side cafe E.A.T. to stave off eviction. In the suit, Zabar claims his landlords are trying to “harass” and “bully” him out of his lease at 1064 Madison Ave., between 80th and 81st streets, before it expires in 2027. Zabar is seeking $5 million in damages from his landlords as well as an injunction allowing him to continue his lease for E.A.T., which opened in 1973. Zabar filed the suit after receiving a notice of default for eight alleged lease violations, which he says he refuted or fixed." - Kayla Kumari Upadhyaya
