"A longtime fixture in Carlsbad, popular with locals since opening in 1989, has been given a thoroughly modern makeover: the Coyote Bar & Grill—after a 30-year residence in the Village Faire plaza a block from the beach—stayed open during its remodel and now showcases an updated Southwestern vibe by local designer Melissa Young of MY Studio ID. The 4,000-square-foot space includes an outdoor area with fire pits, and a section of high-top tables was replaced with a new lounge to allow more group seating and bottle service. On-trend cacti, custom murals, rustic materials, and a variety of eclectic lighting define the refreshed decor. While the design has been refreshed, the menu remains unchanged, still featuring crowd-pleasers such as shrimp and cream cheese–stuffed jalapeños dubbed rattlesnake eggs, lobster and sweet corn chowder, smoked chicken enchiladas, and baby back ribs with tequila barbecue sauce, and the venue continues to offer live entertainment and dancing throughout the week, regularly hosting bands, DJs, and karaoke nights." - Candice Woo
