An Eastside Sandwich Legend Returns to Highland Park Today - Eater LA
"Eastside sandwich lovers are celebrating today, as Eagle Rock legend Dave’s Chillin N Grillin returns from an extended hiatus with new digs in nearby Highland Park. Whereas the previous shop was a long storefront showing off to Colorado Boulevard, this new pared back option shows up just off Figueroa Boulevard in a space shared with the new Chops Meat and Fish butcher. It’s all part of the redone Frank’s Camera building, which also holds the soon-to-open Spanish tapas restaurant Otoño. Immediately up front from Dave’s is the new speakeasy-style haircut shop and cocktail bar Blind Barber, which opened to the public for the first time last night. Thankfully the menu is much the same as ever at the new Dave’s, with eclectic sandwiches like their surf and turf, a grilled pastrami and tuna salad combo that’s proven popular over the years.
