Autonomy Bakery and Cafe Opens in Covington | Eater New Orleans

"I reported that former Ancora Pizzaco owner Jeff Talbot and business partner Saunders Conroy opened Autonomy Bakery and Cafe in downtown Covington on July 25 after two years of planning. The 40-seat bakery-café bakes all its pastries and breads on site and serves breakfast, sandwiches, salads, and pastries in the morning, with lunch and dinner every day except Tuesday (examples include a Wagyu burger and a crab au gratin tartine). Drinks feature local French Truck Coffee as well as beer and wine. Opening hours are typically 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on most days; weekend brunch is served Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with items like dirty rice grits, slow-cooked eggs, roosti, and bacon fritters, and the cafe closes early on Sundays at 2:30 p.m. The owners plan to expand “next football season” by renovating the back warehouse into an indoor-outdoor seating area with roll-up doors and large screens for televised sports." - Stephanie Carter
