Vegan Taco Restaurant Damelo Cafe Is Heading to Southwest Detroit | Eater Detroit

"Coronado has acquired the building formerly home to Charlie Clark’s Bar at the corner of Morrell Street and West Vernor Highway and plans to open Damelo Cafe (Damelo translates to “give me” in Spanish). The cafe will likely build on Rocky’s momentum by serving vegan tacos with fillings like fried avocado and mushroom–sweet potato, emphasize healthy, plant-based options to address heart disease, cancer, and diabetes in Latin American and communities of color, and may offer a dry bar with non-alcoholic cocktails and host intimate live-music events; Coronado is still working out specifics, will begin renovations soon, is applying for small business grants, and aims to open by this winter." - Brenna Houck
