"Local breakfast favorite Kuzzo’s Chicken & Waffles is reopening on the Avenue of Fashion on Saturday, March 14. The popular restaurant located at 19345 Livernois Ave., closed last summer due to major construction in the area and returns with a updated kitchen and new equipment five years after its original debut. Owner Ron Bartell invested $350,000 in the renovation, focusing on service and staffing improvements. The restaurant features new paintings by Detroit muralist Desirèe Kelly and offers menu classics like lightly spiced waffles and crispy fried chicken, as well as dishes like shrimp and grits. The reopening comes at a difficult time due to the coronavirus outbreak, prompting Kuzzo’s to enhance handwashing reminders and use OpenTable for queue management to reduce crowding. Online ordering is available via UberEats, DoorDash, Grubhub, and Black and Mobile. The restaurant opens at 9 a.m." - Brenna Houck
