"A longtime Culver City taco stand adjacent to the 405, Tito’s Tacos has kept a mostly unchanged menu since it opened in 1959; I note that its only additions over the decades were the flan and a vegetable tamale, and on May 5 the owners will add a made-to-order chicken burrito made with a tortilla filled with chicken, refried beans, and grated cheese. The hard-shelled tacos and house salsa are still prepared the same way Benjamin Davidson and Benny Vizcarra developed with input from early employee Amado Madera, and the restaurant is now owned by Davidson’s granddaughter Lynne Davidson and her husband, Wirt Morton. Opinions split on whether Tito’s is worth the wait, but I find the crispy old-school tacos—filled with shredded beef and overflowing with electric orange shredded cheese—are worth trying at least once, especially with the fresh tortilla chips and house salsa; try the beef, bean, and cheese burrito if you want something to truly write home about." - Mona Holmes
