"When it opened its permanent Beacon Hill storefront on Wednesday, August 3, Crane River Cheese Club felt like a natural extension of Brian Poe's work. I learned Poe — who also runs Tip Tap Room — can guide customers in selecting everything from spices and butters to cuts and even offer instructions on how best to prepare wild ostrich. What began as an early pandemic-era delivery service catering north of Boston now has a retail storefront nextdoor to Tip Tap that sells cheese, meat, and pantry items while serving grab-and-go salads and sandwiches; you can even order an ostrich filet. Poe says he's selling wild game, ground meats, and steaks, and he's excited to break down a wild boar and discuss how to cook it. I think Crane River will accentuate Boston's cheese and charcuterie scene and offers a much more personable option than an Amazon Fresh truck, letting Poe develop relationships with people who are preparing food at home." - Paolo Bicchieri
