"I visited the first Colorado Shake Shack at 2995 Larimer Street in the River North Art District, where the grill fires at 11 a.m.; after a packed pop-up at The Source and a visit from founder Danny Meyer, the airy, industrial 3,700-square-foot space—vaulted ceilings, high beams, light pine accents, and the brand’s signature neon green—seats 108 indoors and out and has a dog-friendly patio for nearly 30. The menu pairs Shake Shack staples (burgers and fried chicken sandwiches on Martin’s potato roll buns, crinkle fries, and creamy vanilla and chocolate frozen custards and shakes) with Colorado exclusives: the Green Chile CheddarShack, a smashed Angus beef patty with mildly spiced Anaheim, jalapeño and sport peppers, shredded white cheddar and marinated onions; the Glazed and Confuzed concrete with banana bread doughnut chunks in vanilla custard; and the Pie Oh My concrete, currently blending a slice of The Long I Pie’s salted honey lavender pie with vanilla custard. A rotating beer list features Ratio Beerworks, Odell Brewing Co., Denver Beer Co., Funkwerks and Great Divide, Stumptown cold brew is available, and five percent of sales will go to Food Bank of the Rockies. General Manager Deborah Sheetz runs a staff of nearly 60, and this Larimer Street Shack is the first of three Denver-area locations slated before year’s end." - Gigi Sukin
