"I'm looking forward to Emeril Lagasse's first Portuguese concept, 34 Restaurant & Bar, a collaboration with his son E.J.; the name '34' represents the partnership between the third and fourth Emeril Lagasse. Slated to open late spring 2024 at 710 Baronne Street, it will serve tapas-style shared plates and include a jamón bar—an intriguing element I hope is literally a bar piled high with Spanish hams like jamón ibérico and jamón serrano. Lagasse posted photos from Portugal (including jamón cones) and said he and his family are excited to bring their Portuguese heritage and inspiration—crediting his late mother Hilda Mederios, with whom he began cooking—to New Orleans. The restaurant will occupy at least part of the 9,000-square-foot ground floor of a Warehouse District building across from the Rouses grocery store in the South Market development." - Clair Lorell
