"Even the current novel coronavirus pandemic can’t stop those In-N-Out drive-thru lines. The ongoing global health crisis has caused restaurants across the state of California to shut down dine-in services and switch to offering delivery and takeout only, a move that has led to closures, layoffs, and an uncertain future across the board — except for at California’s beloved burger chain. Below is a video posted to Twitter yesterday from user Rabi Abonour showing dozens of cars lining up for more than a city block as drivers wait to pick up burgers from the Culver City location of In-N-Out. As the video shows, cars wrap around the building, all the way down the parking lot, and around the corner and well up the street. There are more than three dozen cars waiting at one time, and In-N-Out employees are seen standing in the street taking orders from customers on mobile screen — from a safe distance, of course. It’s a strange time for restaurants right now, as the COVID-19 pandemic has destroyed profits and led even international chains to struggle to do the basics like pay their rent. Others, like delivery companies, ghost kitchens, and chains like In-N-Out, seem to have managed to stay relatively steady during California’s Safer at Home mandate." - Farley Elliott
