"This season at Husky Stadium, I learned the University of Washington will serve beer and wine throughout the stadium to fans 21 and over — a change from past practice when alcohol was confined to premium boxes and beer gardens where patrons had to remain in designated areas. The stadium has never sold alcohol in general-admission areas before, though vendors have offered beer and wine at Husky baseball and softball games since 2018 and at Husky basketball games since 2019. UW athletic director Jen Cohen said the expansion is part of a long-term plan to introduce alcohol sales across venues, reflecting fan feedback and following successful rollouts at diamond sports and basketball. In addition, the stadium is instituting a no re-entry policy and moving to card-only concessions; it plans to operate at full capacity this fall, with mask-wearing encouraged rather than required for the unvaccinated under Seattle’s current guidance, and there are currently no vaccinated-only ticket sections (though that could change if cases rise because of the delta variant). A correction clarifies alcohol will be available to fans 21 and over, not age 12." - Gabe Guarente
