A New Dessert Destination Brings Its Chewy Mochi Doughnuts to Asiatown - Eater Houston

"Mochinut, a new destination for chewy mochi doughnuts, is just about ready to open its first Houston location. The growing, California-born chain will open its first Space City outpost at 9798 Bellaire Boulevard, joining other popular sweet shops like soft-serve spot Bae, boba shop 7 Leaves, and tons of dining options. Born in Cerritos, California, the fledgling chain already has five locations in the Los Angeles area, with a major expansion in the works. In addition to the Houston location, Mochinut also has outposts currently planned for California, New Jersey, Washington, and Louisiana. The shop is known for its ultra-chewy mochi doughnuts, which are made with sweet glutinous rice flour that produces a texture that’s unlike any other doughnut. The pastries are topped with vividly colored icing, in flavors ranging from banana milk and black sesame to ube, strawberry, and melon.
