"Opening this summer in Logan Circle, Bluestone Lane will debut its largest area café to date (2,270 square feet) at the base of the mixed-use Liz complex on 14th Street NW. The global brand—known for its “avocado smash” toast, cold-pressed juices, custom teas, and other healthy fare—roasts its beans in Brooklyn and entered the D.C. market in January 2018 with a West End café; it also has outposts downtown and in Dupont Circle, Georgetown, and Navy Yard. For this location Julia Sullivan (the Australian designer behind the brand’s first New York café) and FHA Architects were recruited to create a look that includes an outdoor terrace, pastel-hued tiles surrounding the bar, floating greenery, marble tabletops, and light timber furnishings, and the café will sit next to Sephora and the new Whitman-Walker Cultural Center on the ground floor." - Tierney Plumb
