New Restaurant Fusion 59 Opens in Southwest Houston With Naan Pizzas and Flashy Cocktails | Eater Houston

"Housed at 11786 Wilcrest Drive in Southwest Houston, Fusion 59 Eater and Mixology gives a former bar a second life as a 3,500-square-foot restaurant with an indoor bar and a 1,100-square-foot patio. I found Chef Kristi Courtney’s menu blends traditional and contemporary global cuisine, with appetizers such as samosas served with cilantro chutney and spicy tamarind sauce; wings coated in either coconut curry or a Trinidadian jerk sauce; and both Italian and Indian-styled pizzas, the latter served on naan. Entrees continue the international theme with buttered chicken, Mediterranean salmon, rib-eyes, and a pappardelle Bolognese made from braised lamb leg. Mixologist Jojo Martinez curates a diverse cocktail lineup including the rosy Mi Amorita (tequila, rose, orange liqueur, lime, and rose essence), a French 59 (gin, spiced mango, lemon, and champagne), Peaches Down in Georgia (grilled peach vodka, peach bitters, vanilla, lemon, and Cava), and the Family Tradition, a smoking take on an Old Fashioned made with bourbon, turbinado sugar, and cherry angostura, garnished with a citrus twist and Italian cherry and served in a clear box. There’s also a $39 Houston Restaurant Weeks three-course menu offering appetizers (calamari, wings, or orzo salad), mains (shrimp pasta, buttered chicken, or al formaggio pizza on naan), and desserts (bourbon bread pudding, a skillet cookie, or gelato).
