Spanish Vermouth Bar El Lopo Spills Out Into Polk Plaza Space | Eater SF

"A narrow street off Polk was closed to traffic and converted into socially distant tables and chairs—now called Lower Polk Plaza—after the Lower Polk Community Benefit District applied for and received city permission to do so. The plaza opened in August to help five local restaurants that would otherwise be limited to takeout, and it proved successful enough to encourage El Lopo’s formal reopening. I observed that the plaza functions as a shared neighborhood dining area where guests are welcome to bring takeout from any nearby restaurant, where staff circulate with vermouth carts and glasses, and where El Lopo’s team often checks on diners throughout the space." - Eve Batey
