"I'm excited that the California chain Mochinut — known for chewy mochi-doughnut hybrids and Korean-style hot dogs — will open its first North Texas location at 3052 Old Denton Road in Carrollton; it opens at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 16 and will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. The mochi doughnut, which was first created in Hawaii and quickly went viral for its flower-like shape, is made with rice flour for a slightly crispy exterior and a stretchy, chewy interior and is glazed in flavors like taro, yuzu, melon, matcha, and churro. The menu also features Korean hot dogs stuffed with cheddar, mozzarella, or hot dogs and coated with crispy toppings such as fried potatoes and Flamin' Hot Cheetos dust. This Carrollton shop is the chain's third Texas outpost (joining locations in Houston’s Asiatown and Katy) and is part of a rapidly growing brand that started in Los Angeles and now has locations in South Korea, Thailand, Las Vegas, and at least one more Texas spot planned." - Brittanie Shey
