Not my favorite Korean BBQ by a long shot. The food (that I was able to eat) was very tasty. Being allergic to sesame and peanut, I know full well walking into most Korean restaurants that I will be limited with what I am able to eat. When I was able to ask what foods contained sesame/oil, no one seemed to know, and it seemed like it took forever to get anyone to check. The final answer was simply "I think this is the only one you can eat," which was the pork belly. I love pork belly, but not something that I want to make an entire meal out of. Luckily, the kimchi and the quick-pickled radish (which are REALLY good) were sesame-free.
The conversation was really the reason we went out, and that was great. Sadly, it was interrupted every few seconds with the grill plate being changed out. Grill plates being changed out in a Korean BBQ is expected, but this was to the extreme. Barely had any food made its way onto the grill before it was being changed again. I have to wonder if this might not be as necessary if they had turned on any of the vent hoods in the restaurant. None of them appeared to be working since the smoke was quickly filling the restaurant from every table.
For me, it just wasn't worth the price of admission. I know of several Korean BBQ restaurants where I can eat a much wider selection of food. If you don't have allergies, by all means give Omi a try. The pork belly, kimchi, and quick radish are all really excellent.
