"I’m smitten with this restaurant inside the theater now run by A24: the lush little room, the perfect horseshoe bar, a fun soundtrack, and Jorge Riera’s excellent wine list set the tone for straight-ahead food that ranges from an outrageously great cheeseburger to a memorable sausage and kraut, with simple yet memorable desserts like a chocolate custard leveled-up with a drizzle of Chartreuse ($16) and a voluminous, white, and fluffy coconut cake ($16) with feathery frosting from pastry chef Michelle Palazzo that might best Claud’s decadent chocolate slab for visuals. The duo behind Tribeca’s Frenchette and Upper West Side revival Le Veau d’Or teamed up with indie film studio A24 to create the buzziest downtown restaurant this fall; attached to the reopened West Village Cherry Lane Theatre, every seat — even the tiny horseshoe bar — is a good one, with a high chance of celebrity-spotting from the likes of Bradley Cooper and Sabrina Carpenter while enjoying a varied menu from frogs legs Kiev to that excellent cheeseburger. An oversized slice that tastes of the tropics in a room this fun fits with the creative current flowing from A24 next door." - Nadia Chaudhury
