"Following outposts in North Park, La Jolla, and Encinitas, this Tijuana-inspired Mexican spot is heading to Kearny Mesa's busy Convoy Street plaza and will replace Cauldron Ice Cream. Slated to open in early 2021, I learned the location will be primarily grab-and-go with a food counter and some standing room, and that the rest of the 1,800-square-foot space will become Convoy Music Bar. The Taco Stand is operated by Shōwa Hospitality, the local group behind several acclaimed restaurants." - Candice Woo
