"I'm reporting that Fairfax’s casual all-day spot Yarrow Cafe is on the move: chef/owner Royce Burke will end full service at the current Fairfax location after August 1, leaving the attached yoga studio Hyperslow (the primary leaseholder) to expand into the cafe side while Yarrow remains there in a limited, grab-and-go capacity selling items like salads and grain bowls. Burke will instead focus on tuning Yarrow’s year-old menu to a new vibe inside Cognoscenti Coffee on San Julian at the City Market South development (1118 San Julian St., Los Angeles), where he plans to provide full food service in the coming weeks — including some locally-sourced meat options — with a possible later expansion to Cognoscenti’s Olive Street location; the transition should be operational by August 5. Yarrow is known for its well-received coffee, breakfast burrito, and vegetarian-friendly daytime menu, and Burke — who also operated the Chinatown pop-up Secret Lasagna for a time — says more restaurant news is coming soon." - Farley Elliott
