"Opening December 11 in the Cole neighborhood at 3357 Downing Street, this new Italian delicatessen and market will start as a takeout-only corner deli offering pastas and salads, meats and cheeses by the pound, Italian grocery goods, and hot and cold subs (hoagies/grinders). Operators Joshua Pollack, culinary director Nick Severino, and executive chef Jason Somers—New Jersey natives aiming to pay homage to family-owned Italian delis—plan generous subs stacked with cold cuts, house-made mozzarella, shredded lettuce, roasted peppers on loaves from City Bakery; pasta dishes topped with scratch-made marinara, vodka, and clam sauces; and grocery items such as olive oils, vinegars, tapenades, and charcuterie cut to order. While some imported specialty products will carry higher price tags, the overall menu is pitched as good value and features homestyle offerings like a family-recipe spaghetti and meatballs." - Josie Sexton
